    Guess Where I Am…? ๐ŸŒŽ

We took this picture while vacationing in Lake Tahoe, California. Every time I look at this photo it makes me smile with the memories of our exciting day sporting around the lake in a speed boat, dragging a tube with some member of our party white knuckled, trying to hang on for dear life! This was followed by the inevitable yipping and howling after the individual on the tube was projected, at high velocity, through the air, and touched down in the water with an exhilarating splash.

As with most pasta, this salad gets better and better over time. As the pasta cools, the flavors mingle and blend into a lovely group of complementary flavors on the palate. This recipe is perfect for a BBQ or party because itโ€™s easy to make and it feeds a lot of hungry people!

    Guess Where I Am…? ๐ŸŒŽ

    Answer:

On a rainy day last December, we visited the Seymour Marine Discovery Center, which is affiliated with University of California, Santa Cruz. To celebrate the seasons, they had decorated the giant whale skeleton out front with thousands of Christmas lights. After out tour, the sun broke through the clouds and provided a lovely rainbow right over the facility. What a glorious treat!

    Wild Berry Stuffed French Toast

On this day of celebrating our countryโ€™s independence, I thought Iโ€™d post my favorite red, white & blue breakfast of champions! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

The inspiration for this glorious treat began with picking up a loaf of extra-thick cut cinnamon swirl bread from Trader Joeโ€™s. We love this bread because it makes creating a delicious breakfast quick and easy. And letโ€™s face it, today is a holiday, so lets make it fun while keeping it simpleโ€ฆ

    Guess Where I Am…? ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐Ÿ’ฅ ๐ŸŒŽ

Last 4th of July, we spent a glorious night watching the San Francisco Fireworks from Angel Island State Park. We took the Blue & Gold Fleet ferry service out from the Embarcadero and enjoyed an afternoon of great food, celebration, and merry making with hundreds of other people. Once the fireworks got started, there was clapping, whistles and singing from all around the port. What a wonderful place to enjoy our country’s Independence Day! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐Ÿ’ฅ ๐ŸŽ‰ ๐ŸŽ†

    Guess Where I Am…? ๐ŸŒŽ

On a recent trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, we were mesmerized by the massive jellyfish exhibit. Watching the colorful cast of gelatinous characters undulate before us was such a peaceful, relaxing experience. The music from Disneyโ€™s Fantasia danced through my head as we observed their graceful movement. I also kept thinking that this would be wonderful place to hang a hammock and take a nap! But, alas, the tens-of-thousands of other aquarium guests may not have appreciated my wish for a peaceful siesta, and perhaps would have disturbed my slumberโ€ฆ. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฆ€๐Ÿ ๐Ÿก๐ŸŸ๐ŸŒŠ ๐Ÿ’ค

    Otter-Popโ€™s Squeaky-Ball Dramaโ€ฆ ๐Ÿพ ๐ŸŽพ

You know something is desperately wrong when your 70-lbs. Chocolate Labrador/German Shorthaired Pointer pup climbs into your unsuspecting lap and gives you this look. Something truly dreadful has happened and they need your help. NOW!!!

During a recent construction project at the house, an abandoned heater vent was discovered tucked deep under the lath & plaster. Apparently no one had bothered to inform the dog about this new gaping whole in the wall, and just guess what happenedโ€ฆ?

Yep, Otter-Popโ€™s favorite and most cherished toy, her obnoxious yellow squeaky-ball, found itโ€™s way down into that naughty hole in the wall. Rats! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

    Guess Where I Amโ€ฆ? ๐ŸŒŽ

This photograph was taken from our bed at dawn from the Arenal Observatory Lodge, Smithsonian room, in Costa Rica. We had arrived the night before in darkness, under a sky filled with massive lightning and bomb-like thunder. The road was flooded and when we finally arrived, we fell into a deep slumber with the sound of the rain dancing on the floor to ceiling windows. This was our very first visual of the Arenal Volcano. What a glorious way to awaken from a night of magnificent tropical dreamsโ€ฆ

We plan upon touring Costa Rica again and will provide a detailed account of our wild fun and adventures. Stay tunedโ€ฆ! โœˆ๏ธ ๐ŸŒด ๐ŸŒž

Exploring Pulgas Ridge Preserve! ๐Ÿพ ๐Ÿ‘ฃ

Our dog Otter-Pop and I enjoy exploring the many open space preserves we have surrounding us in the San Francisco Bay Area. On a gorgeous spring day, we went to bang out a 6-mile run at Pulgas Ridge Preserve in San Carlos, California.

Pulgas Ridge Open Space is a well managed 293-acres preserve that has a variety of trails and an expansive โ€˜Off-leashโ€™ area for our K-9 pals to mingle and romp together. Some of the trails are quite rigorous, while others are paved fire roads, which make for great accessibility for people of all sizes, ages and abilities. Otter-Pop and I frequent the Dusky-footed Woodrat Trail on a very regular basis. This preserve is closed to bike riding, so you donโ€™t need to fear getting blown off the trail by some yahoo screaming around a blind turn. All of these amenities lead to a peaceful, relaxing experience beneath the quiet, shady trees.

    Le Voov! Derby Mint Julep ๐Ÿ‡ ๐Ÿ‘‘ ๐Ÿ† ๐Ÿน

Every year on the first Saturday in May we throw our annual Kentucky Derby Party to celebrate a West Coast version of the Run For The Roses. We honor the many traditional aspects of this southern event, including an extravagant California version of the ladies Parade of Hats that would make the fellas in the San Francisco Castro scream, yip and holler with delight!

In keeping with tradition, we also have frosty mint juleps flowing promptly at 2 PM. However, as you may have suspected, my need to add a personal bit of Le Voov! originality, I put a little twist on the traditional julepโ€ฆ.

Hotel Sofitel, Redwood City, California: Dale Chihulyโ€™s Glass Chandelier. This amazing explosion of blue and green blown glass greets the eye in the lobby of the Sofitel hotel. I first became acquainted with Chihulyโ€™s ethereal mastery of glass sculpture while visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium exhibition entitled โ€œJellies: Living Artโ€ in 2002. Photography of his work is gorgeous, but viewing it with your own eyes is nothing short of pure magic!

    Guess Where I Am…? ๐ŸŒŽ

    Answer:

Rooftop of The California Academy Of Sciences, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA.
This was always my favorite place to go as a child. Newly remodeled in 2008, the natural science museum now features a living rooftop with over 1.7 million California native plants, which opens to allow natural ventilation throughout the building. If you get the opportunity for a visit, don’t forget to stop by the alligator pit and say ‘hello’ to Claude, the albino American gator.
Adult admission is $35 and family memberships are available for $250/year. http://www.calacademy.org/
